The Jacksonville Equestrian Center’s unique history started with a citizens’ initiative called the Better Jacksonville Plan. After the Navy closed its base at Cecil Field, two thousand acres of forest land was given by the Navy to the City of Jacksonville for a regional recreation park. The “crown jewel” of the park would be a state-of-the-art equestrian center. Built under a Master Development Plan in 2004, the eighty acre Jacksonville Equestrian Center can host multi-faceted events including:
All disciplines of equine shows, clinics and celebrations
Sporting events such as soccer, lacrosse, flag football, bmx biking
Recreational events such as RV shows, dog shows, alpaca shows, car shows, fun runs, bicycling events
Community events such as scout blast, art shows, music festivals, church or corporate outings and even weddings
There is something for everyone while visiting Jacksonville Equestrian Center including the close surrounding amenities. Just a few are:
Miles of trails for hiking, biking or horseback riding
Direct access to Jennings Forest and the Pope Duval Park
RV camping with full hook ups, primitive camping with a dump station
An indoor olympic size pool with community center
